Commodity Manager

Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement, the Commodity Manager through strategic sourcing and commodity management, coordinates all activities related to procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies, along with other indirect materials for the organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Driving Total Landed Cost improvements: Heavy focus on Quality and Delivery
- Managing Projects
- Maintaining information regarding industry and market trends and reporting trend information needed to support recommendations and decisions
- Analyzing market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and adjusting sourcing plans based on the conditions
- Leading strategic sourcing process for assigned commodities, including market assessment, supplier qualification, and requests for supplier information and pricing (RFI/RFQ)
- Conducting fact based negotiations with current and potential suppliers
- Conducting spend analysis and business case development
- Identify and Drive continuous improvement opportunities with Suppliers, Internal Plants, Quality Control, Accounting and Engineering
- Timely communicating supplier performance information to plants, Quality Control, and Engineering
- Supporting plant operations and materials departments to resolve supplier quality and delivery issues
- Conferring with and visiting vendors to obtain product or service information
- Reviewing quotes
- Negotiating price and purchase terms
- Selecting products for purchase using company established selection criteria
- Other purchasing/procurement duties as assigned
Domestic travel is typically less than 20%, International travel as needed.
Requirements
Preferred candidates will have manufacturing experience, metal industry experience, off-shore sourcing experience (not mandatory), be aggressive, cooperative, and able to deal effectively with suppliers and stressful situations. Must be a productive self-starter, detail-oriented, and a team player with exceptional follow-up abilities. Prefer a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, and 3-4 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
