Position Summary
The plant controller is a key leader on the plant leadership team. Partnering with the Plant Manager, the Plant Controller contributes to all areas of plant management and provides strong financial leadership. The Plant Controller is responsible for planning and coordinating business planning activities.
- Manages plant’s revenue and expense reporting, ensuring control, accuracy, predictability, timely delivery of results, comparative analysis, and supporting commentary.
- Collaborates with the VP of Axle Operations and plant leadership team to understand and explain results, identify inefficiencies, and lead financial analysis with a continuous improvement focus.
- Supports plants in pursuit of financial targets through in-depth analysis and sharing of financial knowledge.
- Monitors and implements plant internal controls, in compliance with corporate policies, as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard assets, and identify risks.
- Prepares plant periodic forecasts and Annual Operating Plan.
- Manages the maintenance and accuracy of standard costs in conjunction with Corporate Cost Accounting on BOMs, routers, and purchase standards.
- Analyses transactions and financial reporting for accuracy and proper presentation in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Coordinates with Corporate Controller on information to complete GAAP financial statements with proposed adjustments.
- Actively ensures compliance with laws and corporate financial policies and practices.
- Prepares financial reports to support and provide commentary on plant performance.
- Manages inventory reporting and accuracy.
- Manages the capital budget, through a ROI lens, and provide monthly updates and forecast.
- Communicates, discusses, and challenges financial impacts with Senior leadership.
- Develops Plant resources in financial best practices, analysis, and reporting.
- Prepares and/or presents for meetings where financial input/commentary is required/requested.
- Attends as requested, quarterly management and other plant related meetings.
- Owns, manages, and completes financial information requests from Senior Leadership.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.
Requirements
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a comparable discipline and at least 8 year of experience in performing the same or similar job function; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's Degree and/or CPA is preferred but not required.
