Position Summary
The Logistics/Health Safety and Environmental Specialist (HSE) reports to the Plant Manager of P54 Silent Drive by Dexter. This role is critical to driving Quality and HSE excellence. Champions operations excellence by showing employees how their actions connect to Company’s Quality/HSE vision and create long term value. Participates in track metrics, provides leadership and training, meets day to day environmental / safety requirements. Provides a good foundation and solid understanding of major environmental and safety regulations. Develops and leads the company’s strategic logistics sourcing / optimization strategy, in-bound / out-bound deliveries and the company’s internal fleet. The strategies will be developed in alignment with Plant and Corporate strategic objectives. Drive transportation, warehousing, and trade compliance cost reduction as well as service and quality continuous improvement through process, analytics, technology, and partnership with all peer departments.
- Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
- Develop and enforce OSHA policies (e.g., accident reporting process)
- Assists accident investigation procedures and log of all near misses.
- Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
- Organize and conduct OSHA training plans
- Collaborate with others to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
- Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OSHA matters
- Maintain environmental permits (air, water, wastewater, and hazardous waste) includes renewals, required reporting, permit modifications, and required notifications.
- Conduct environmental audits
- Compete reports required by permits and coordinating monthly, quarterly, and yearly HSE compliance forms to facility and corporate management.
- Ensure compliance to all ISO 9001:2015 requirements
- Perform regular process audits
- Drive root cause and corrective actions – Must own and lead the process
- Leads all transportation spend to ensure that the company’s is best in class with cost, quality and on time delivery.
- Key contributor in long-term strategies that optimize the company’s end to end cost structures.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve analytical insights, reporting, action and solutions to ensure optimization of our logistics network.
- Leads logistics optimization strategy with the sales team to develop solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations while consistently reducing the company’s cost structure.
- Work hand in hand with the sourcing team and plant supply chain teams to implement the most economical models across the different manufacturing locations.
- Interfaces with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements and/or issues.
- Analyzes supplier capacity / availability to provide our plants and customer(s) the proper delivery performance.
- Communicates and coordinates effectively with employees, suppliers and customers verbally and in writing.
- Negotiates and implements expedited freight process and contracted suppliers across the manufacturing plants.
- Aids in the Development of strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
- Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Materials/Logistics Planning, or a comparable discipline and at least 4-year related experience; or an equivalent in combination of education and experience. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies with solid understanding of lean concepts. Excellent Microsoft Office skills. Thorough understanding of order processing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional organizational and time-management skills, strong regard for product quality and safety standards, sharp analytical and problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a state issued driver’s license that allows for driving without restrictions, except for restrictions related to physical or mental impairment(s) that do not prohibit successful job performance, including but not limited to restrictions pertaining to the requirement to wear glasses or contacts for visual correction.
