Position Summary
The Quality Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for maintaining and improving the quality system at our Royse City, TX axle manufacturing plant. The plant encompasses 58,000 ft2 and is expanding to employ 85 production associates on two shifts. The Quality Manager will lead a team of three quality technicians, and we are looking for a Quality Manager who cares about quality, is safety conscious, dependable, detail-oriented, and works well with others in a team environment.
Requirements
The Quality Manager is responsible for the following:
- Assess the current quality system, then develop and execute a plan to ensure that the site earns ISO-9001 certification in 2023
- Oversee the review of incoming material to confirm that it meets specifications, including the development of appropriate sampling plans, supplier on-site reviews and other actions as necessary to ensure a consistent flow of material into the plant
- Lead the Plant’s Quality Steering Committee, making sure that team members develop, implement and maintain appropriate corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of any problems
- Lead the Plant’s Material Review Board to quickly and appropriately disposition and non-conforming material
- Working through a cross-functional team, create and review operator work instructions, control plans and job aids as necessary to drive conformance to established quality standards
- Fulfill documentation and reporting requirements for the Quality Management program
- Provide external customer support to ensure that any external quality issues are quickly identified and resolved
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or a comparable technical discipline and at least eight years of related experience, with at least three years in a quality leadership role within a manufacturing environment. Must have an in-depth knowledge of ISO-9001 standards and demonstrable experience in the use statistical process control methods to control a manufacturing process. Knowledge of the processes used in axle manufacturing (i.e. cutting, welding and assembly operations) preferred.
Requires advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
