Quality Manager

Position Summary
The Quality Manager reports to the Plant Manager of Dexter Axle, Inc. (Legacy Rockwell American) with dotted line to the Regional Director of Quality. This role will lead the implementation and maintenance of the quality system at three of our plants located in California, Indiana, and Texas. This role will also champion policies and procedures that promote employee safety and well-being. This role is critical to driving Quality excellence through the Fender Plants. This role champions operations excellence by showing employees how their actions connect to Company’s Quality vision and create long term value. The role tracks metrics, provides leadership and training, meets day to day safety/quality requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements and executes inspection, testing, and evaluation methods to ensure that products adhere closely to company standards.
- Develops standardized production, quality, and customer-service standards
- Performs detailed and recorded inspections of final products so the products are up to industry and company standards
- Ensures compliance to all ISO 9001:2015 requirements
- Develops and implements required quality documents
- Trains production line staff in production practices and quality assessment of goods
- Performs internal and external quality audits and compile detailed reports of findings
- Drives root cause and corrective actions – Must own and lead the process
- Works with Engineering and Production to address any internal quality concerns and corrective actions
- Completes reports required by permits and coordinating monthly, quarterly, and yearly HSE compliance forms to facility and corporate management.
- 20% travel required

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Position requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or safety, environmental, chemical, or related science field, or a comparable degree and at least 5 years of Quality experience in industry. However, an equivalent in combination of education and experience will be considered for the total years of Quality experience.
Experience leading the implementation and maintenance of a quality system in similar industry is required.
Familiarity with quality standards and processes to follow federal, state and local regulations is required.
Health, Safety & Environmental experience preferred.

- Experience in educating plant managers in the HSE area. (safety, air, water, hazardous waste, etc. regulations).
- Computer skills – Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, risk assessment modeling, PowerPoint, regulatory agency on-line reporting.
- Strong communication skills, written and oral
Physical Demands :
- Moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift
- Moves throughout the building to access files
- This role requires inspection of sites to detect quality and safety concerns
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment
- Must be able to adhere to process protocol
- Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a state issued driver’s license that allows for driving without restrictions, except for restrictions related to physical or mental impairment(s) that do not prohibit successful job performance, including but not limited to restrictions pertaining to the requirement to wear glasses or contacts for visual correction.
