How does the Predator DX2 work?
Unlike time-based controllers which ramp up to full power on a pre-set time scale, the inertia-activated Predator DX2 matches the driver's desired braking effort to actual brake output. Here's how it works...
A patented pendulum sensor in the controller reacts instantly to any change in tow vehicle deceleration.
When this change is detected and the brake pedal or manual slide is activated, the controller applies the trailer brakes at the same rate as the tow vehicle brakes.
The result is smooth, proportional braking between the trailer and tow vehicle.
Because it's inerti-activated, the Predator DX2 can provide gradual power output which prevents over-braking and minimizes brake wear. When you need emergency braking for that panic situation, the Predator DX2 delivers full braking power with no delay. Some time-based controllers can take up to 3-4 seconds to reach maximum output.
